Serena Williams Releases Rap Song After Beating Maria Sharapova

Serena Williams had one of her most impressive wins of the season this year, defeating Maria Sharapova 6-1, 6-3 in the quarterfinals of the Madrid Open. The tennis star, however, is stealing headlines for another reason: her rap career.

TMZ released a sample of a rap song Serena did with B Major Music Group in a studio owned by her friend Bryant McKinnie. You can listen to the song here.

The tennis superstar has often prioritized her off-the-court antics, including a fashion line, so the song comes as a small surprise. Since the song was released by the studio and not Serena, it's likely that she was simply having fun at the studio. Maybe after retirement, we can expect a full album form Serena.

It's also not Williams' first foray into the rap world, directly or indirectly, as she was rumored to be the main reason for the feud between Common and Drake in January.

For now, Serena seems focused on her tennis record, which, with her win today, is now an impressive 11-0 on clay in 2012. She will next face U.S. Open Champ Sam Stosur or Lucie Hradecka.
