A veteran right-handed starter could be heading to Boston before the MLB trade deadline clock strikes zero this year.
The Red Sox are “aggressive in the pursuit” of Cubs starter Ryan Dempster, according to Buster Olney. The 35-year-old is 5-3 with a 1.86 ERA in 14 starts this season and has won 53 games between 2008-11 for the Cubs. The Canadian-born righty is 117-119 with a 4.30 ERA in 15 years with the Reds, Marlins and Cubs.
