While in Houston recently, Johnson told Comcast SportsNet Houston, “I would love to get a second chance to play the game that I love.” When asked specifically what he thinks about the Texans, Johnson replied, “They’re good, they’re very good. If I could be that last piece, it would be fun.”
Johnson has flown under the radar relatively well since his divorce from Evelyn Lozada after he was arrested for domestic battery last summer. It seems, in addition to being very publicly released from the Dolphins roster prior to the start of the 2012 season, the negative attention has humbled Johnson. In his mind, right now is the perfect time for a comeback.
“Especially with me being … in a position where I have to prove myself again, which could be scary,” Johnson said.
Johnson’s former Miami high school opponent, Texans wide receiver Andre Johnson, has even said he could “put a few words in” to management for his former rival.
A few years removed from any measurable on-field production, The Player Formerly Known as Ochocinco would have a long way to go to prove he’s worth an NFL team’s time.
