Report: Indians Closer Chris Perez Had Marijuana Delivered to Home, Is Under Investigation

It appears that Cleveland Indians closer Chris Perez is in hot water — and not the kind of pressure that comes with protecting a one-run lead in the ninth inning.

Though some of the details are unclear, Perez has been involved in some sort occurrence involving drugs. Initial reports indicated that Perez was arrested in Rocky River, Ohio, on drug charges. However, later reports only say that Perez is being “investigated” and had not been arrested.

Nick Camino, Indians beat writer for WTAM radio, has said on Twitter that Perez “received a significant amount of marijuana delivered to his house.”

Shortly after news broke, the Indians released a statement.

“Earlier this morning we were made aware of a situation involving [right-handed pitcher] Chris Perez that occurred yesterday in Rocky River,” said Indians general manager Chris Antonetti.  “We have talked with Chris and are currently in the process of gathering additional information.  We will not have any additional comment at this time.”
