MarShon Brooks Is ‘One of the Most Exciting Scorers You’ll See in Your Life,’ According to Keith Bogans

Playing for seven teams in 10 seasons has given Keith Bogans an up-close look at many of the great scorers of his era. He played alongside Grant Hill in Orlando, teamed up with Tim Duncan in San Antonio and paired with Derrick Rose in Chicago’s starting backcourt for 81 games in Rose’s MVP season.

Heading into his third season as a teammate of MarShon Brooks, Bogans sees some of those greats’ scoring prowess in the young shooting guard out of Providence.

“I think MarShon Brooks is one of the most exciting scorers you’ll see in your life,” Bogans told Celtics.com on Monday at a news conference to introduce the team’s new additions. “I’ve been teaching him to play a little bit of defense all last year, but as far as offensively, when he gets that basketball, he’s hard to stop. I mean, I can’t stop him from scoring, so I know it’s going to be hard for a lot of other guys to stop him.”

Bogans and Brooks came to Boston along with Kris Humphries, Gerald Wallace, Kris Joseph and three first-round draft picks in a trade for Paul Pierce, Kevin Garnett and Jason Terry. Although Brooks struggled last season, seeing his playing time diminish and his scoring average fall to 5.4 points per game after averaging 12.6 points in his lockout-shortened rookie campaign, the Celtics believe he can recapture the scoring magic he displayed as a Friar.

Bogans apparently shares their belief.
