Paul Pierce, Kevin Garnett Get Full-Page Thank You From Celtics in Boston Globe (Photo)

Friday, July 12, is officially the day that Paul Pierce and Kevin Garnett become Brooklyn Nets.

Celtics fans may have written their epitaphs weeks ago, when the deal first went through, but the team had to wait until it was official. Now that the deed is done, the Celtics have given the two players a proper goodbye.

While Ray Allen missed his chance at a lovefest by leaving in free agency, Pierce and Garnett have been enshrined in a full-page ad in The Boston Globe as they leave town. The Celtics put a big, green “thank you” in the middle of the page — below a picture of the team’s championship banners and above a photo of Garnett and Pierce celebrating their title — and listed a few of the things Garnett and Pierce are appreciated for.

Now all that’s left to do is root against the two when they take the court for the division rival Nets.

Check out the tribute in the photo below, and a similar take that the Celtics tweeted Friday morning.
