Report: Aaron Hernandez’s Mother Was Arrested for Illegal Gambling Operation in 2001

In the wake of Aaron Hernandez‘s arrest in connection with the murder of Odin Lloyd, a lot of information has come out about the former Patriots tight end and his friends and family. One thing we’ve learned is that Hernandez’s mother, Terri, was stabbed in 2010 while in an abusive relationship.

Now, more information is emerging about Terri — and this time she’s not the victim.

While Hernandez was still a youngster, Terri became involved with an illegal gambling operations, taking bets for a shadowy organization, according to The Boston Globe. In 2001, Terri was arrested for her connection to the operation, after police wiretaps caught her relaying betting lines for various NFL games.

And, yes, one of the teams she relayed lines for was the Patriots.

Martin Hovanesian, Terri’s alleged accomplice, was convicted of felony racketeering and professional gambling. Information relating to Terri’s trial is not available under Connecticut law.

“It was a big-time operation in a little town,” said William Gerace, Hovanesian’s lawyer. “She was the phone operator, a minor player, not the brains.”

If you’re the kind to engage in pop psychology, now would be the time.
