Greg Jennings Says Brett Favre Not Making NFL Comeback, ‘Is Riding Off Into the Sunset’

With Brett Favre, no one ever really knows. He was supposedly washed up and past his playing days the last couple of times he made returns to the NFL, so it wasn’t completely ridiculous when the report floating around that he has “blacksmith’s arms” (because blacksmiths are good at football) attracted so much attention.

But as people try to put a lid on the latest Favre speculation — including Favre’s agent, Bus Cook, who was the one making the original comments — another person close to the source is moving in to quiet the crowd.

Vikings receiver Greg Jennings was asked about the Favre rumors Wednesday morning, and he treated the report as many a rational soul did this week: He laughed.

But Jennings may have more of an inside track than the other professionals insisting Favre’s career is really, really done. Favre and Jennings had a bond that extended past their time together on the Packers. Jennings has said Favre was a driving force in him signing with Minnesota, saying Favre “shot him straight” and gave him good advice as Jennings ultimately decided to switch sides in the rivalry.

On Wednesday, Jennings shot football fans straight, putting in his two cents for anyone hoping for a final Favre return, even if it does include blacksmith’s arms on the back of a horse riding into the sunset.
