Jared Sullinger Appears in Court, Pleads Not Guilty to Domestic Violence

Celtics forward Jared Sullinger pleaded not guilty to charges of assault and battery, intimidation of a witness and destruction of personal property related to an alleged domestic incident last weekend, The Boston Globe reports.

During a court appearance in Waltham, Mass., Sullinger heard accusations that he “repeatedly pinned his girlfriend to a bed and to the floor” and snatched her cellphone while arguing in the couple’s home on Saturday. Sullinger was ordered not to contact his longtime girlfriend, Deann Smith, without a third person present, the Globe reports.

“During this heated argument in the bedroom, Jared pushed down onto the bed and got on top of her,” according to a Waltham police report. “Deann states she tried several times to get up, but he kept pinning her down and would not let her up.”

Sullinger’s bail was set at $5,000, according to the Globe, and his girlfriend did not seek a restraining order.
