Bears-Ravens Game Resumes After Near Two-Hour Delay Due to Terrible Weather, Tornado Nearby (GIF, Photo)

The Bears and Ravens game at Chicago’s Soldier Field was evacuated early Sunday afternoon. After almost a two-hour delay, the two teams took the field again and resumed the game, though.

With a tornado warning in effect already in the Chicago area on Sunday, rain began pouring down on Soldier Field during the first quarter, causing officials to suspend play. Stadium officials even took that precaution one step further, evacuating fans from their seats and directing them to take cover under the nearest concourse.

The Ravens had a 10-0 lead more than midway through the first quarter before the game was brought to a halt. Large gusts of wind and rain tore through the stadium, as the skies over the early afternoon game quickly made it seem as though the game was this week’s Sunday night showdown.
