Buccaneers Pull Off Rare Running Back Jump-Pass Touchdown Against Seahawks (GIF)

The Buccaneers knew they had to pull out all the stops on Sunday if they were going to come away with the improbable victory over Seattle, so they attempted just that.

Still searching for their first win of the season, the Bucs stunned the NFC West-leading Seahawks — and everyone watching — as they jumped out to a 14-0 advantage with just over two minutes to play in the first half. But they really shocked the world with how they extended their lead to 21-0 late in the second quarter.

The Bucs pulled a fast one on Seattle, reaching way back into their playbook for the ol’ running back jump-pass for a touchdown play. At the two-yard line, running back Mike James took the hand-off up the middle, but instead of completing the assumed dive play, James channeled his best Tim Tebow impression and passed to tight end Michael Crabtree for the six points.

The play was tricky enough already, but Crabtree added to the drama as he had stumbled to the ground before the ball was even thrown in his direction. The tight end recovered quickly enough, though, and was able to pop himself up just in time for the catch.

The Seahawks staged a massive comeback in the second half, going on to beat the Buccaneers in overtime, but check out the sneaky play during happier times for Tampa in the GIF below.
