The Bill BelichickEd Reed dream team is just that — a dream.

The New York Jets tweeted Thursday afternoon that they have reached an agreement with the free-agent safety. The Jets expect Reed to be on the practice field as early as Wednesday. Combined with a Rex Ryan defense, the faltering veteran could experience a revival in the Big Apple.

The 35-year-old safety was released by the Houston Texans on Nov. 12 after a prolonged stretches of poor play and comments he made against the coaching staff. Reed signed a three-year, $15 million contract with Houston during the offseason, but he will still collect $5 million in guaranteed money.

The Jets travel to Buffalo for a divisional matchup Sunday, though it’s unclear if Reed will play on such short notice.
