Michael Jordan’s ‘Flu Game’ Shoes From 1997 NBA Finals Sell For Over $100,000 At Auction (Photo)

The shoes that Chicago Bulls superstar Michael Jordan wore in Game 5 of the 1997 NBA Finals against the Utah Jazz, commonly known as the “flu game,” were recently sold at an auction for six figures.

The final price paid for the historic shoes was $104,765, with a total of 15 bids placed on the item.

Jordan was physically ill before Game 5 in Utah, but decided to play anyway. The Bulls were glad he did because the six-time NBA champion scored 38 points in a 90-88 victory that gave Chicago a 3-2 series lead.

The Bulls would clinch the series on home court in Game 6 for their fifth championship in seven seasons. Jordan was named NBA Finals MVP for the fifth time after averaging 32.3 points, seven rebounds and six assists in the series.
