Manchester City’s drubbing of Tottenham Hotspur might have been worse were it not for Hugo Lloris’ heroics.
Tottenham goalkeeper Lloris made one of the best saves of the 2013-14 Premier League season Wednesday when he used his quick reflexes to prevent Sergio Aguero from scoring.
Aguero had already given Manchester City a 1-0 lead when he tried to double it with a flashing header from close range in the 21st minute, but Lloris was up to the task and made a “Save of the Season” contender.
Unfortunately for Tottenham and Lloris, Manchester City scored four second-half goals en route to a 5-1 victory at White Hart Lane.
Lloris, 27, has become one of the Premier League’s top goalkeepers since joining Tottenham from Lyon in 2012. Barring injury, the Frenchman will continue to backstop Tottenham’s chase for UEFA Champions League qualification before captaining his country’s national team at the 2014 FIFA World Cup.
