Canadian Snowboarders Bash Shaun White For Backing Out Of Event

There’s another rivalry between the United States and Canada, and it involves snowboards, not ice skates.

Canadian snowboarder Sebastien Toutant lashed out at Shaun White on Twitter on Wednesday in regards to White’s decision to withdraw from the slopestyle competition.

Toutant later erased the tweet.

Toutant wasn’t the only snowboarder to question White’s withdrawal. Fellow Canadian snowboarder Maxence Parrot also chirped at White on Twitter. He also erased his tweet.

White, who jammed his wrist during a practice run on the course, cited the extreme difficulty and danger of this particular course as reasons for withdrawing.

White wasn’t the only athlete injured on the course. Norway’s Torstein Horgmo broke his collarbone on a practice run, ending his Olympic hopes, while Marika Enne of Finland was carried off on a stretcher following a crash that resulted in a concussion.

Both Toutant and Parrot are competing in their first Olympic Games while White is competing in his third.
