The Round Mound of Touchdown might be sidelined for some time just days after returning to the national spotlight.
Jared Lorenzen, the 320-pound former NFL quarterback, popped back up on everyone’s radar when videos emerged of him playing for the Northern Kentucky River Monsters of the Continental Indoor Football League earlier this month. The big man’s skills quickly went viral, and he’s certainly been taking all the newfound attention in stride.
“If you don’t have fun with this, [then] what the hell are you doing in life?” Lorenzen said of his sudden Internet popularity via the Cincinnati Enquirer. “Live this up, get your 15 minutes of it and bow away from it. I enjoy it, I love it, I think it’s funny.”
On Sunday, in just his second game with the River Monsters, Lorenzen had to be helped off the field — by four people — after he was injured while scrambling to his left.
Hefty Lefty left the arena in an ambulance, and FOX 19’s Joe Danneman reports that he injured his ankle on the play.
