U.S. Olympic Hockey Stars T.J. Oshie, Gigi Marvin Were Homecoming Royalty (Photo)

After Team USA’s wildly entertaining 3-2 win over Russia on Saturday, T.J. Oshie became a household name in addition to being labeled a hockey star, an American hero and a slew of other lofty titles. But now we know the St. Louis Blues forward has been a king since high school.

Oshie hails from Warroad, Minn., a town with less than 2,000 people that aptly bills itself “Hockeytown, USA.” The nickname is fitting as Gigi Marvin, a forward for the U.S. women’s hockey team, also calls Warroad home.

Oshie and Marvin have made their hometown proud during the 2014 Winter Olympics in Sochi, playing like royalty with standout performances. That’s nothing new for the former high school classmates, since they were elected king and queen of the 2005 Frosty Festival — the school’s annual winter dance.

Oshie dazzled with his four-goal shootout display, but in 2005, his golden hair did all of the dazzling. He’s clearly always had the gold medal on his mind.
