A.J. Pierzynski’s Grand Slam Powers Red Sox Past Blue Jays (Video)

A.J. Pierzynski hit his eighth career grand slam Saturday afternoon to power the Boston Red Sox past the Toronto Blue Jays 7-6.

After Brandon Morrow issued four straight walks to bring in Boston’s first run of the day, the Toronto starter’s afternoon was over after just 2 2/3 innings. Chad Jenkins entered the game, but he didn’t fare much better. The reliever gave up Pierzynski’s blast to right field that gave Boston a 5-3 lead. It was Will Middelbrooks’ turn next, as he went yard after Pierzynski cleared the bases to tack on another run for the Red Sox.

Toronto staged a late-inning comeback, but Boston hung on to win its second consecutive game.
