Six Celtics Score In Double-Figures In Summer League Win Over Pistons

The Boston Celtics squeaked by the Detroit Pistons with a 92-90 win Wednesday during their NBA Summer League game in Orlando, Fla., after Orlando’s Kentavious Caldwell-Pope missed a 3-pointer at the buzzer.

The victory was a complete team effort, as six Celtics scored in double-figures. Kelly Olynyk led the way with 16 points on 6-of-16 shooting and also had a team-high nine rebounds.

Rookie Marcus Smart’s jump shot is still a work in progress — he went 4-for-13 from the field — but he managed to put up a solid 14 points. Phil Pressey (14), Mike Moser (12), Colton Iverson (11) and Chris Babb (10) also joined the double-figures club.

There was a scary moment when Dairis Bertans had to be stretchered off the court after hitting the basket stanchion face-first following a foul. The Celtics announced that he “should be fine,” but he’ll undergo a CAT scan as a precaution.

The win improves Boston’s Summer League record to 2-1. They’ll take on the Orlando Magic next on Thursday.
