Not too many teenagers get to give a pregame speech to an NHL team, but on Sunday night Brendan Woods, 17, got that honor.
Brendan spoke to the St. Louis Blues prior to their preseason game against the Columbus Blue Jackets at the Nationwide Arena.
Brendan had a heart transplant when he was only three years old. Fourteen years later, the Make-A-Wish Foundation made it possible for Brendan to travel with the team to the game in Columbus. His day included meeting the players, an exclusive tour of the team plane’s cockpit and a visit to the broadcast booth.
Paul Bissonnette, an unrestricted free agent attending the Blues’ training camp on a tryout basis, was touched by Brendan’s pregame speech and tweeted out the video to his followers.

St. Louis suffered a 4-3 loss in overtime but after a hard-fought 60 minutes it was clear that the Blues took Brendan’s words to heart.
