After another dismal offensive performance Sunday, the New England Patriots’ primary weakness this year has become something that is usually a strength.
While New England isĀ 2-1, the Patriots’ offense hasn’t had the explosiveness it did in years past. The team currently ranks 27th in yards per game after finishing seventh last season.
The Patriots have received some solid production from Julian Edelman, though, who has 22 catches for 260 yards. Tom Brady gave some praise to Edelman as the “one guy”Ā whoĀ has been performing offensively for the team during his weekly appearance on “Dennis & Callahan” Monday.
Yet Edelman does not excuse himself from the team’s struggles.
“Itās an overall offensive thing right now. Weāre just not clicking,” Edelman told WEEI. “We havenāt played one of our best games yet. Itās early in the year. Weāre 2-1, so youāve got to look at that.”
Edelman understands, however, that the team’s winning record isn’t what fans are talking about.
“Thereās a lot of expectations out here, especially with the history that weāve had,” Edelman said. “But thatās all noise. We just have to continue to try to get better, day in and day out.”
