Heisman Contender Todd Gurley Suspended Indefinitely For NCAA Rules Violation

Georgia tailback and Heisman contender Todd Gurley has been suspended indefinitely, pending investigation, for an alleged violation of NCAA rules, the school announced Thursday.

Multiple sources are reporting that the suspension centers around allegations that Gurley accepted extra benefits for autographs or use of his likeness.

“I’m obviously very disappointed,” Bulldogs coach Mark Richt said via Georgia Athletics’ website. “The important thing for our team is to turn all our attention toward preparation for Missouri.”

Gurley, a junior, is Georgia’s leading rusher with 773 yards on 94 attempts in five games this season. He has 3,147 rushing yards in his Georgia career so far, which is 86 yards short of second on the school’s all-time list.

Freshman Nick Chubb looks to be next in line with 224 yards on 31 attempts in five games this season.
