Johnny Boychuk Scores Goal, Adds Two Assists In Islanders Debut (Video)

New York Islanders defenseman Johnny Boychuk wasted no time making an impact for his new team.

In his first game with Isles, the recently acquired blueliner opened the scoring Friday night against the Carolina Hurricanes during a first-period power play.

Boychuk — who was playing his first regular-season game since being traded by the Boston Bruins on Oct. 4 —  fired a slap shot from the point that beat Carolina goalie Cam Ward.

Boychuk added two more points on the night as he assisted on a pair of goals from Islanders forward Brock Nelson. The ex-Bruins D-man logged 23:11 minutes of ice time and was named the game’s second star.

The Islanders won 5-3.
