The Cleveland Browns are starting to earn respect from some people after steamrolling past the Cincinnati Bengals 24-3 on Thursday and taking a share of first place in the AFC North.
Jeremy Hill is not one of those people.
The Bengals running back still isn’t convinced that the Browns are a good team despite being part of the “Thursday Night Football” shellacking.
“Those guys, they’re not that good,” Hill said, per ESPN. “It was on us (Thursday). We gave them the game, in my opinion. They didn’t do anything special. We just gave them the game. They just sat back with coverage the whole day.”
In Hill’s defense, he did have a fumble, and Bengals quarterback Andy Dalton threw three interceptions. Turning the ball over four times won’t do anyone any favors. Skeptics can also point out that the Browns’ two previous victories were against the Tampa Bay Buccaneers and Oakland Raiders. Oh yeah, and they did lose to the 1-8Â Jacksonville Jaguars.
However, one little kid who has turned into a believer is Browns wide receiver Andrew Hawkins’ son.
The two-year-old told his dad in October that his favorite players were A.J. Green and Mohamed Sanu, and fortunately for Hawkins and the Browns, this has changed. His son was wearing a Browns hat and a Hawkins jersey after the game.
At least the Browns can finally say that their family members believe in them. That step is necessary before the rest of the NFL starts buying into their strong start.
