Boston Red Sox pitching prospect Cody Kukuk was arrested Monday on an outstanding robbery warrant issued in Kansas, Long Beach (Calif.) Police Department spokeswoman Nancy Pratt told the Lawrence Journal-World on Wednesday.
Three other men from Lawrence, Kan., were charged last week in connection with a Nov. 8 home-invasion robbery in that city. Police allege the four suspects entered an apartment with handguns and stole cash, two cell phones, an Xbox 360 and the contents of a safe.
Kukuk, 21, will make his first court appearance in California on Thursday and face extradition, Pratt told the Journal-World.
Kukuk, whom the Red Sox selected in the seventh round of the 2011 MLB draft, spent the 2014 season in Single-A. The left-hander went 7-7 with a 4.47 ERA and 1.68 WHIP in 25 starts split between Greenville and Salem.
