Seahawks Fan’s Obituary Blames ‘Lousy Play Call’ For Cause Of Death

Questionable play calling kills.

The Seahawks’ decision to pass instead of handing the ball off to Marshawn Lynch in the final seconds of Super Bowl XLIX caused plenty of heartbreak in Seattle, but it had a much worse impact on one fan in particular. According to the obituary for Michael Vedvik, who died the day after the Seahawks’ crushing loss to the New England Patriots, the “lousy play call” caused the 53-year-old’s death.

OK, so maybe that cause of death isn’t totally true, and maybe his family is just kind of hilarious.

While Vedvik did suffer a heart attack just hours after the loss, he actually didn’t see Malcolm Butler’s insane interception because he didn’t watch the game. The Seahawks fan wasn’t feeling well, so he recorded the game thinking he would watch it at a later time, his wife Stephanie told The Spokesman Review. He was found dead early Monday morning, but his family is certain he would have appreciated the heck out of the line in his obit.

“My husband would have thought it was hysterical,” Stephanie said, per The Spokesman Review. “If I had read this obituary to my husband about somebody else, he would have had a laugh.”

Vedvik’s sister wrote the obituary with his brother-in-law tossing in the nice little dig at the Seahawks.

“It was just so true because my husband would have said, ‘What a dumba–,’” she said.

The majority of Seahawks fans likely uttered those same words, if not worse ones after the pick.
