The Boston Red Sox’s rotation is taking shape.

Wade Miley said Tuesday after facing Triple-A hitters at Fenway South that his first regular-season start with the Red Sox will come against the New York Yankees at Yankee Stadium, according to WEEI.com. The left-hander presumably will start April 10 after Clay Buchholz, Rick Porcello and Justin Masterson start Boston’s first three games of the season, against the Philadelphia Phillies.

“That’s going to be pretty special,” Miley told WEEI.com of making his first start against the Yankees.

Red Sox manager John Farrell announced Sunday that Buchholz will take the ball in the season opener April 6. Farrell also revealed Porcello will pitch in Boston’s second game April 8, but there was some question as to whether Masterson or Miley would pitch the third game/series finale against the Phillies.

(Farrell remained noncommittal when asked about the team’s No. 3 starter before Tuesday’s spring training game against the Tampa Bay Rays.)

It’s unclear whether Joe Kelly (biceps soreness) will start the season on the disabled list. The Red Sox don’t need a fifth starter until April 12, so they could backdate Kelly’s DL stint and open the season with eight relievers before calling upon the right-hander for their series finale against the Yankees.

Miley was acquired over the offseason from the Arizona Diamondbacks in exchange for pitchers Rubby De La Rosa and Allen Webster.
