Washington Capitals defenseman Brooks Orpik has played on the edge his entire NHL career, and he went over it in Wednesday night’s Game 7 against the New York Rangers.

New York Rangers defenseman Dan Boyle took a hit to the head from Orpik along the boards in the third period and was forced to leave the game. He didn’t return in regulation.

No penalty was called on Orpik.

Boyle and the Rangers would get the last laugh, however, as Derek Stepan scored in overtime to help his team advance to the Eastern Conference Finals.
