It’s beginning to look more and more like Daniel Bryan is in line to become the next great pro wrestler’s career that’s been shortened by injury.
Bryan, whose real name is Bryan Danielson, has been slowed by injuries for more than a year now. He missed a good chunk of time in 2014 with a neck injury, and the former WWE world heavyweight champion recently was pulled off the company’s European tour with an undisclosed injury.
Initial reports indicated Bryan could have been dealing with an MRI, but it sounds more and more like he’s actually dealing with something else. Bryan made his first TV appearance in a long time Monday night on “Monday Night Raw.” During a seemingly emotional speech, Bryan relinquished the Intercontinental Title and said a recent MRI indicated Bryan’s career could be in jeopardy.
It’s still too early to say what this means for Bryan’s long-term prospects, but the fact that he’s giving up the title and the company is going to go in a new storyline direction at the end of the month at “Elimination Chamber,” it stands to reason Bryan won’t be doing any wrestling for the foreseeable future. However, Bryan won’t be totally out of the picture. He’ll be a part of an expert panel on the WWE’s tryout show “Tough Enough,” which premieres June 23.
