Red Sox Draft History: Boston’s Top Seven First-Round Picks (Photos)

Ben Cherington put it best last week.

“I think the draft is really difficult,” the Boston Red Sox general manager said while discussing the team’s vision going into the 2015 Major League Baseball First-Year Player Draft.

Evaluating amateur talent perhaps is the hardest task for a major league front office because there’s so much unknown. The scouting department can work tirelessly to make the right selections in a given draft, yet there are going to be plenty of prospects who flop upon joining the professional ranks.

The Red Sox own the seventh overall pick in the 2015 draft, which kicks off Monday night. As such, it seems appropriate to rank the seven best first-rounders in franchise history.
