Adam Bogdan, Liverpool Working To Prevent Mistakes From Watford Game

Adam Bogdan accepted the blame for the opener in Liverpool’s 3-0 reversal at Watford on Sunday and pledged the players will work hard to eradicate such mistakes moving forward.

The Hungarian mishandled a corner in the third minute of the Premier League contest, allowing Nathan Ake to force in a goal that inspired the home side.

Odion Ighalo doubled their advantage soon after as he sped onto an over-the-top pass, saw off Martin Skrtel and found the net with a low finish from a tight angle.

And it was the same striker who ended any hopes of a comeback by Jürgen Klopp’s team in the 85th minute by heading his second and Watford’s third past Bogdan.

The goalkeeper later told Liverpoolfc.com: “It’s not easy to recover after a goal like that in the first couple of minutes. It’s never going to be easy.

“Of course it hit us and Watford managed to score another goal, which was another blow. We tried to come back into the game and I think we gave everything, although I don’t think we played very well. But we tried. Watford were really good but we — and myself — gave them a headstart.

“I dropped the ball, of course. There’s a mistake there. After that, I felt my hand was on the ball and I was going to bring it out.

“Obviously he knocked it out of my hand — but we are talking about split-seconds. Through the bodies, of course it’s hard to see. I’m not blaming anybody but myself to drop the first ball.”
