Brian Urlacher decided bald no longer was beautiful.
Urlacher spent 13 hairless seasons with the Chicago Bears, earning eight Pro Bowl selections and solidifying himself as a prime candidate for the Pro Football Hall of Fame. The former NFL linebacker will be remembered for his defensive prowess, but his bald look was very much part of his identity.
Well, Urlacher, who last played during the 2012 season, resurfaced with a full head of hair Tuesday on Chicago’s WGN News. According to Yahoo! Sports, Urlacher had an eight-hour surgery in which doctors took out 4,000 hair follicles from the back of the 37-year-old’s head and placed them up front.
“Guys like you, you don’t need help. I need help,” Urlacher said, running his hand through his hair, according to Yahoo! Sports. “And I got it. But I also wore it short by choice before.”
So, what do you think of Urlacher’s new look? He certainly looks different, if nothing else.
Just had a nice chat with @wgntv to show off my new look. Thanks to the team at @RestoreByKatona for the new hair! pic.twitter.com/mNHejP43TT
