NBA Rumors: Al Horford Tells Hawks His Free-Agency Decision Will Come Saturday

It appears the pursuit of free-agent power forward Al Horford almost is over.

Yahoo! Sports’ Adrian Wojnarowski reported Saturday morning that the Boston Celtics and Washington Wizards are the “front-runners” to sign Horford.

The Atlanta Hawks, the team Horford has played for since he was drafted third overall in 2007, recently agreed to contracts with center Dwight Howard and swingman Kent Bazemore for a combined $140 million.

As a result of those moves, Atlanta won’t have enough salary cap space to sign Horford unless other moves are made. It might not matter, though. The Celtics reportedly made a “strong presentation” to Horford during a meeting Friday, and they have plenty of cap space to offer him a max contract.
