The San Francisco Giants — like other teams, it would appear — are struggling to find relief pitching help through the trade market ahead of Monday’s 4 p.m. ET non-waiver trade deadline.
So they’ve reportedly turned their attention to a potential lineup upgrade.
Hearing Giants (with fewer relievers on market) making late and strong push for Jay Bruce. Would be huge lineup boost. Had big series in SF.

Bruce is the best hitter available via trade. He’s batting .265 with 25 home runs and a National League-leading 80 RBI through Sunday.
Three of the Giants’ top contenders in the NL pennant race — the Chicago Cubs, Washington Nationals and St. Louis Cardinals — all have scored more runs this season than San Francisco.
Addressing the bullpen certainly is the greater concern for the Giants before the deadline, but adding a bat of Bruce’s caliber would be a huge upgrade.
The Giants are legit World Series contenders and should be bold in their search of additions for the postseason.
