Breathe easy, New England Patriots fans: Brandon Bolden will be back.
The Patriots put a quick end to region-wide anxiety Saturday by re-signing the veteran running back/special teamer to a one-year contract, according to ESPN’s Field Yates. The 28-year-old won’t exactly receive a huge payday, however.
Source: the Patriots have signed RB Brandon Bolden to a one-year, $880,000 extension through 2018. It includes $170,000 in guarantees.

The 2018 season will mark Bolden’s seventh in New England, as he once again will offer depth in the backfield and skill on special teams.
Still, Patriots fans likely are more concerned with the futures of running backs Dion Lewis and Rex Burkhead, who will become free agents March 14.
And while Lewis might prove too expensive for head coach Bill Belichick’s taste, Burkhead might be more affordable, and perhaps brings more value to the Patriots than he would any other NFL team.
