Another day, another epic Zdeno Chara Instagram.
The Boston Bruins defenseman’s foray into social media has been a showstopping success, with thoughtful tributes to mothers, reflections on pigeons and passionate homages to children being some of the highlights. And he continued that inspiring trend Saturday with an awesome post about the Bruins’ equipment trainers.
“I think that every professional hockey player is aware how devoted their equipment trainers are,” Chara wrote. “How much support and countless hours they put day in and day out so that we have what we need to play the game. All the traveling to different cities, late night arrivals, packing bags in the early morning, unpacking the gear, washing laundry bags, drying towels, sharpening skates, fixing helmets and sticks. You name it, they do it all. And the best part – they never complain, they are never in a bad mood, always smiling and dedicated. They literally rise by lifting others.
“I’ve always had big respect for people who find purpose in being of service to others. I want to take this opportunity to introduce these fine men who take so much pride and love in what they do. Every minute, hour, day, month and year they do it for us, their players in the locker room. THANK YOU for everything guys, you are absolutely amazing people. Well said.
Let’s be honest: Social media largely has become a cesspool of negativity. But Chara is proving there still might be some hope that services like Instagram, Facebook and Twitter can be used for good.
