In the months leading up to Giannis Antetokounmpo signing a supermax extension with the Milwaukee Bucks, he couldn't stress how important his family was in the decision.

Wherever the two-time reigning MVP of the league was going to play out the next few years, it was going to be somewhere they also wanted to be, no matter how big or small the market.

After Antetokounmpo signed the deal, he thanked the team for giving his family a chance, as opposed to just himself.

His family was so important in his plans, apparently, that his mom was the one who made the call.

"I asked my mother if you want to move and she said no," Antetokounmpo joked Tuesday, via ESPN's Malika Andrews.

Antetokounmpo's five-year $228.2 million extension is the most lucrative deal in NBA history, instantly creating generational wealth for him and his family.

The superstar forward said he hopes his signing will help make Milwaukee more attractive to other free agents. But the roots he's trying to grow won't stop there.

His goal for the next five years, via Andrews?

"Have (more) kids and have a championship."
