It must be nice to have a player like Jonah Williams.
The veteran offensive tackle made a heads-up play for the Arizona Cardinals during the first half against the New England Patriots at State Farm Stadium on Sunday.
Williams, the 6-foot-5, 312-pound lineman, scored the game’s first touchdown after he jumped on a fumble in the back of the end zone. It was less than a yard away from turning into a touchback for the visiting Patriots, but instead extended Arizona’s lead to 10-0.
The bizarre play might have served as a knife twist of sorts, too.
Chances are Patriots fans are familiar with Williams give the 27-year-old was connected to New England during the offseason. He was thought to be a potential free-agent signing given New England’s well-established (and continuous) void at the tackle position.

(Spoiler: Williams signed a reasonable two-year deal with the Cardinals).
Williams’ start against the Patriots in Week 15 marked his fifth start of the season. He missed nine consecutive games due to injury, returning in Week 12 and playing every offensive snap since then.
His touchdown against the Patriots marked the first of his NFL career. It’s not every day a big man will score, of course. But Williams now has as many touchdowns this season as Patriots wideouts DeMario Douglas and Kayshon Boutte.
