Celtics NBA Champion Shows Up To CT Sun WNBA Game At TD Garden

BOSTON -- The Connecticut Sun, not the Boston Celtics, packed TD Garden on Tuesday night as they played in front of a sold-out crowd for the first WNBA game ever at the venue.

Among the 19,156 fans in attendance was a key member of the reigning NBA champion Celtics.

Jrue Holiday, who is also fresh off winning a gold medal with Team USA at the Olympics, and his family sat courtside to watch the Sun battle against the Los Angeles Sparks. It was easy to spot the Celtics guard in the crowd and he was shown on the jumbotron in the second quarter. Holiday received a standing ovation from the fans.

Holiday wasn't the only player from the Celtics in the building. Celtics rookies Baylor Scheierman and Anton Watson, who were drafted by Boston just a couple of months ago, also sat courtside a few seats down from Holiday.

This isn't the first time the Sun have received support from professional athletes who play in the region. A group of New England Patriots players made the drive to Connecticut for the Sun's season opener in May.
