Ultimate Failed Patriots Draft Pick Hits Another Low After Being Released

Former New England Patriots wide receiver N’Keal Harry might be all out of NFL chances.

It looks that way for the 2019 first-round pick as the Minnesota Vikings released Harry from their practice squad Monday. The Vikings signed linebacker Calvin Munson, another former Patriot, and wide receiver Trishton Jackson to the practice squad with Harry departing.

Harry did everything he could to try to stay around in the NFL. The 6-foot-4, 225-pound pass-catcher even converted from a wide receiver to a tight end with the Vikings, but that didn’t help him catch on with Minnesota. Harry, who was let go by the franchise ahead of the 53-man roster cutdown before signing with the practice squad, played nine games for the Vikings in 2023, but was never elevated to the active roster this season.

Harry failed mightily to live up to expectations with New England after the Patriots selected him 32nd overall in a draft that featured other notable wideouts like A.J. Brown, Deebo Samuel, Terry McLaurin and DK Metcalf — all of whom were drafted after Harry.

The Arizona State product compiled just 57 receptions for 598 yards and four touchdowns over his three seasons with the Patriots. New England then traded Harry to the Chicago Bears prior to the 2022 season for a measly seventh-round draft pick in 2024.

The lack of production stayed the same from Harry with the Bears. He recorded seven receptions for 116 yards and a touchdown in his only season with Chicago, which consisted of nine games.

Perhaps some other team will see Harry, who is 26 years old, as some sort of reclamation project. If not, that very well could be the end of Harry’s NFL career and he will go down as one of New England’s all-time draft busts.
