Marcus Morris made a pretty big mistake Wednesday night.
With the Boston Celtics up by three on the Washington Wizards in the final seconds of regulation, Morris charged at a driving Otto Porter Jr. Had Morris just let Porter go and make a layup, the C’s likely would have won the game. But because he charged Porter kicked the ball out to Jodie Meeks, and Meeks knocked down a 3-pointer to send the game to overtime.
The Celtics ultimately lost in double overtime.
However, this isn’t the first time a Morris has played a hand in the opposition winning in overtime.
On Feb. 9 when the two teams last met, Marcus’ twin brother Markieff fouled Kyrie Irving near the end of regulation, enabling the C’s point guard to shoot free throws and force overtime. The Celtics ended up winning.
Moments after his error cost the Celtics the game, Marcus had a reason why both he and his brother both have made major gaffes at the end of regulation.
“Twins do dumb (expletive),” Marcus told reporters after the game.
All right then.
Nevertheless, both players played important roles for their respective teams. Marcus dropped a team-high 31 points while Markieff scored 20, the second-highest on his team.
