It’s fair to think Jim “Mattress Mack” McIngvale took Astros’ season-ending loss to the Texas Rangers a bit harder than the casual Houston fan.

The Rangers on Monday night claimed the American League Pennant and earned a trip to the World Series after an 11-4 victory over the Astros in Game 7 of the American League Championship Series. Houston lost all four ALCS games at Minute Maid Park and Texas overcame a 3-2 deficit in the best-of-seven series.

The hits didn’t stop there, however. McIngavle also lost millions after betting the Astros would win the World Series.

Action Network reported that McIngavle, owner of the Gallery Furniture retail chain based in Houston, had at least $7.9 million in bets.

McIngavle told Action Network he would have won more than the record $75 million he won last season. He had a series of World Series futures on the Astros during the 2022 campaign, as well.

It’s not the first time McIngavle has lost a big bet, or series of big bets. Action Network shared McIngavle lost $3 million after betting TCU in the College Football Playoff National Championship, lost another $2 million after betting the Dallas Cowboys would beat the San Francisco 49ers in the NFC Divisional Round and lost another $1.2 million on the Kentucky Derby.

The Rangers will face either the Philadelphia Phillies or Arizona Diamondbacks in the Fall Classic. The National League’s winner-take-all Game 7 will be held Tuesday night.
