Venus Williams Plays First Round of French Open in Style The Williams sisters are known for shocking the masses with edgy on-court attire.

But Venus Williams took her game to new heights this weekend, awing the crowd at Roland Garros by wearing a dress reminiscent of something you’d likely see at a frat party on Halloween.

Venus may have routed Patty Schnyder 6-3, 6-3, but it was the black, lace mini-mini-skirt, not her play, that left jaws on the ground during the opening round of the French Open.

She told The Washington Post that the decision to wear the skirt was “about illusion.”

We’ll see if No. 2-ranked Venus can use her magic touch to knock No. 1-ranked Serena Williams off the top spot and win the tourney.
