Mark Stuart May Be Odd Man Out of Bruins Locker Room With NHL Trade Deadline Looming Mark Stuart has been a key contributor, burly defender and loyal member of the Bruins for five-plus seasons now.

However, with teams reportedly showing interest in his physicality and the Bruins looking to add more all-around skill to the blue line, Stuart’s days in Boston may unfortunately be numbered.

The NHL trade deadline is fast approaching and the B’s need for a sniper and/or puck-moving defenseman are evident. The Bruins have the goaltending and depth this year to do some damage in the postseason, but many believe that the lack of pure skill — either up front or on the blue line — may lead to yet another early exit from Lord Stanley’s annual 16-team gathering.

Because of his sheer toughness and stay-at-home style of play, Stuart may be the first Bruin on his way out of town by the end of the month. Ironically, it’s these attributes that have gotten him this far and have earned him blue-collared fame in the Hub.

As the cliche goes: this is a business, and if the Bruins have to sacrifice Stuart to get better all around, then so be it.
