Third-Round Pick Anthony Camara, Despite Size, Will Bring Toughness to Bruins

ST. PAUL, Minn. — After adding some high-end talent with their first two picks, the Bruins bolstered their toughness with their third selection.

Boston took rugged left wing Anthony Camara in the third round, selecting him 81st overall with a pick acquired from Phoenix as part of the Derek Morris deal. The Bruins gave up their own third-round pick to Florida in the Nathan Horton deal.

Camara isn't a heavyweight in size at just 6-foot, 194 pounds, but he isn't afraid to mix it up with the heavyweights. He was tied for seventh in the OHL with 16 fighting majors this year, then added three more in the playoffs. One of those bouts came against fellow Bruins prospect Tyler Randell, who was second in the league with 19 fights. Camara also tangled with 6-foot-3, 214-pound Zach Kassian, Buffalo's first-round pick in 2009, three times this season, including twice in the playoffs.

Camara is more than just a brawler, though. He was a first-round pick by Saginaw in the OHL draft in 2009, which gives an indication that there is some skill there as well. His skating is strong and he plays an agitating style that gets under opponents' skin. And unlike many players who perform in that role, he's willing to back it up and drop the gloves when called upon.

Camara was voted the best body checker in the Western Conference by the OHL coaches. He had 8-9-17 totals to go with 132 penalty minutes in 64 games this season, his second in the OHL.

Camara was ranked 78th among North American skaters by NHL Central Scouting.
