After optimism turned to anguish Thursday evening when the NFL lockout appeared to be near its end but dragged into the weekend, it appears labor peace is less than 24 hours away.
According to sources close to the situation, the NFL Players Association is expected to approve the new 10-year collective bargaining agreement on Monday and end the lockout, Yahoo Sports reports.
ESPN's Chris Mortensen reported the players union is making plans for a major news conference on Monday where it is expected they will announce the signing of the new CBA. After refusing to sign the owner-proposed CBA on Thursday night, the NFLPA worked through the weekend to hammer out details with the league on finishing the deal, which should come Monday. The NFLPA is expected to recertify as a union this week in order to make the signing of the deal official.
If the new collective bargaining agreement is finalized Monday, it is anticipated that players can report to their teams on Wednesday.
