Tim Tebow has said he is saving himself for marriage. If so, let’s hope his honeymoon lasts longer than the brief one he had with the Denver Broncos.

A week after he led the Broncos back from a 15-point deficit to beat the Dolphins, Tebow compiled a 56.8 passer rating in a 45-10 loss to the Lions. Denver Post columnist Mark Kiszla declared there is nobody worse at the position than the golden boy.

“Those five minutes against Miami now look like an aberration,” Kiszla wrote. “Right here, right now, Tebow is the worst quarterback in the NFL.”

Few evaluators of talent disagreed with Kiszla prior to Sunday. After the ugly performance, even more piled on, including the Lions’ defensive players.

“Can you believe 15?” an unnamed Lions defender said, according to Yahoo! Sports. “Come on. That’s embarrassing. I mean, it’s a joke. We knew all week that if we brought any kind of defensive pressure, he couldn’t do anything. In the second half it got boring out there.

“We were like, ‘Come on, that’s your quarterback? Seriously?'”

That wasn’t the worst of it. Michael Silver reported he heard words like “atrocious, terrible, completely exposed and not even close to ready” in postgame conversations with coaches and front-office executives.

Any reasonable person would have expected Tebow to take a step back after facing the Dolphins (one of the worst teams in the NFL) against the Lions, who have Ndamukong Suh, the most fearsome defensive lineman the game has seen in decades. But the honeymoon certainly appears to be over for the league’s most polarizing player.
