The Red Sox have reportedly added a veteran backstop.
According to Jerry Crasnick, the Sox have signed catcher Kelly Shoppach to a one-year deal with $1.35 million.
Shoppach is pretty familiar with the organization, being drafted by the Sox in 2001 and making his major league debut with the team in 2005. Last year with Tampa Bay, he hit .176 with 11 homers and 22 RBIs in 87 games played (71 starts).
