Report: Joey Votto Close to Extension With Reds That Could Surpass $200 MillionWith Albert Pujols and Prince Fielder cashing in on big pay days this offseason, it became abundantly clear that Reds first baseman Joey Votto could eventually do the same.

Votto is under contract through 2013 as a result of an extension he signed last winter, but the Reds clearly want to make sure the two-time All-Star stays put for the foreseeable future. That's why the Reds are closing in on an extension with Votto that could surpass $200 million, according to Tim Dierkes of MLB Trade Rumors.

The 28-year-old slugger is coming off a season in which he hit .309 and reached base at a .416 clip. He also blasted 29 home runs and drove in 103 runs.

During his MVP campaign in 2010, Votto slugged 37 home runs and racked up 113 RBIs while batting .324 and compiling a .424 on-base percentage.
