Ballboy Saves Goal, Escapes Unharmed During Brazilian Soccer Game (Video)

A ballboy in a Brazilian soccer game saw the visiting team was about to score what would surely be the winning goal. So he did the only sensible thing — he jumped in goal and stopped it from happening.

The Campeonato Sergipano (Sergipe State Championship) game between home team Guarany and Sergipe was hillariously ruined by the ballboy's antics.

Guarany was trailing 1-0 late in the game, its goalkeeper pushed into the attacking third when his team was awarded a corner kick. The poorly taken corner kick sailed straight into the arms of Sergipe's goalkeeper, who distributed it to one of his wingers.

The player sped toward the Guarany goal, outrunning defenders. His shot beat the last Guarany defender, but the ballboy turned the shot away (with very good technique).

After his work was done, the crowd roared in approval as he jogged off the field.

The incident caused a scuffle between the two teams, and the referee called off the rest of the game, giving the victory to Sergipe.

One can only imagine what suspended Huston Dynamo midfielder Colin Clark would say to this ballboy (too soon?).
